There is something undeniably contagious about laughter. Especially when you’re not supposed to laugh. And outside of actors, few of us are lucky enough to catch those moments of contagious laughter on film. The thing about blooper reels is, there is something very authentic about it. When you laugh at a comedy movie, you are laughing at the moments that were written for you to laugh at. When you laugh at a blooper reel, you are laughing at something organic, something the actors and people on set are laughing at too. What starts as the simple act of watching bloopers, turns into you sitting there, trying to stifle your laughter, just like them. And by the end, you, them, and everyone involved, is laughing. Here are six blooper reels from various films and TV shows that I think are incredibly difficult not to laugh at.
Pineapple Express
Yes, even though you guys are horrorshows, I want to be friends with all three of you.
This is just one of those situations when you know keeping a straight face between takes must have been painfully difficult. I also think working with Danny McBride would be tough. The man is a f*cking riot. You can just imagine all the improv that went on, each one trying to get the other to lose it on film. For people who think the chemistry between these guys was forced or fake, you can see from the bloopers they all really got along well, and that made the flick (and makes these bloopers) even more enjoyable.
I know everyone says they did not smoke actual weed during film, but come on, these dudes are obviously consistently high throughout these bloopers.
Community
Jeff’s knee is hiding Chevy Chase’s, pill-induced erection.
I know there have been better comedies (Arrested Development), but this is here because lately, I have been on a real Community kick. I find the characters extremely likeable, I think the references they drop are nothing short of brilliant, and I love Annie’s Boobs.
That’s the name of their monkey, you perverts.
Sadly, the show just got rid of the main writer and creator, Dan Harmon, so some fans fear the show may lose some of what made it such a joy in the first place, but we just have to wait for season four to find out. In the meantime, enjoy these season three bloopers.

Also, Donald Glover is the man. Seriously. The man can do anything.
Anchorman
This is the day the news team broke the story about bears and their attraction to the female “cycle”.
How great was this film? Super-awesome-great-tastic, that’s how great. Anchorman was a perfect storm of hilarity, and nowhere is that more evident than the bloopers. You can tell from these clips that a good deal of the dialogue was improvised for the film, and that just shows you how brilliant the cast really was. Though a sequel is in the works, I think in situations like this, it is impossible to make lightning strike twice. But if anyone can do it, Ron Burgundy can do it.
This is just one of those movies that somehow never gets old, and never gets less funny. Step Brothers ALMOST made this list, but will probably be on a follow-up, because the bloopers are funnier than the actual film.
His mustache brings all the anchorwoman to the yard.
Serenity
I still mourn the death of this show in a regular basis, like a good nerd.
I could have used some Firefly bloopers, but I felt like Serenity was the best of both worlds, and looked better in HD. For years, I have sung the praises of the mighty Joss Whedon, creator and killer of my heroes, and many laughed and scoffed, and yet here we are, after Cabin in the Woods and Avengers, and everyone finally knows. But you’re all fair-weather fans, as far as I’m concerned. I am talking about Buffy. I am talking about Firefly. Hell, I am even talking about his AMAZING run on the Astonishing X-Men comic.
Either way, though, I am glad you have all seen the light.
These Serenity bloopers only reinforce that working for, and with him, must be one of the greatest gigs in the world.
Cry children, between laughs, for something that died well before its time.
Bridesmaids
Glad to see discrimination against funny woman has slowed down some.
I would like to raise my glass and say a genuine HUZZAH to the fact that some brilliant, funny woman are finally getting the props they deserve. I know Tina Fay had quite a bit to do with the driven, intelligent, funny woman being taken more seriously by Hollywood (from a business and branding standpoint) and it is good to see that Kristen Wiig has run with that. Though the movie itself is a blast, the blooper reel is even better, showing that we’re not the only ones susceptible to bouts of uncontrollable laughter at them. Even THEY are.
Is it weird I want to see the Bridemaids and Anchorman universes mashup into one perfect film?
The Office
Pam’s facial expression really sells this pic.
I know, in some ways the UK show was better. But I have love for the American version because I think that Steve Carell is an absolute comic genius in this role, and just seeing the cast react to the absurdity of certain lines a moment after they say them just makes it so much fun to watch. I didn’t pick season three for any other reason than it had some of my favorite Dwight bloopers.
I can have the worst day, get mauled by a honey badger, and The Office bloopers will always cheer me up.

Also, the theme to The Office is wonderfully catchy. Just saying.
So remember, don’t take yourself too seriously. Sometimes, we all just need a good laugh at our own expense. Or in this case, someone else’s.
